- The Chinese Elements

- There are five Elements: Wood, fire, earth, metal, water. It is
- considered that this is their natural or productive order,
- because wood burns to produce fire, the ashes of fire are earth,
- metal is mined from earth, and melts like water. The reverse
- order is considered destructive.

- Wood is associated with fertility, creativity and with travel
- (as in boats)

- Fire is associated with suddenness and with intelligence and
- beauty.

- Earth is associated with femininity, solidness and willing
- acceptance. As an occupation: health and education.

- Metal is associated with military might, courage, wealth. As an
- occupation: engineering (Wodin).

- Water is associated with danger. As an occupation, with the
- church.

- Early in life: Natural talents, inheritance

- Adolescence: school subjects

- Kuan Tai: qualifications.

- Adulthood: occupation
